Picker tips: search and keyboard shortcuts

The Counter & Synergy Picker and the Counter Picker are quickest from the keyboard: during a draft you can add every pick without touching the mouse. Here is how.

Find a hero by typing

  • Just start typing. You don't need to click the search box first: whatever you type on the page goes into it.
  • A few letters are enough. Heroes whose name contains them are listed, so spi finds every Spirit.
  • Nicknames work too, for example bm or rexxar for Beastmaster, ss for Storm Spirit, np for Nature's Prophet and qop for Queen of Pain.
  • The first result has an orange border. That is the highlighted hero, and the keyboard shortcuts act on it. Hover a result to see buttons that pick or ban it with the mouse.

Keyboard shortcuts

After you add or ban a hero the search is cleared, so you can type the next one right away.

[ Add the highlighted hero to the team on the left: the enemy team, unless you switched sides.
] Add the highlighted hero to the team on the right: your team, unless you switched sides.
Enter Add the highlighted hero to the enemy team.
, or . Move the highlight to the previous or the next result (also < and >).
; Ban the highlighted hero for the team on the left in Captains Mode. In other modes it marks the hero as unavailable, so it isn't suggested.
' Ban the highlighted hero for the team on the right in Captains Mode, or mark it as unavailable in other modes.
\ or ` Remove the highlighted hero from whichever team it is in.

An example: type pud [ lio ] to add Pudge to the enemy team and Lion to yours. To clear the search without picking, use the next to the search box.
