Dota 2 Patch Changes: Hero Win Rates Between Patches

Which heroes did the last patch make stronger, and which ones did it break? Pick two patches and compare the win rate of every Dota 2 hero between them, for each skill bracket and game length. The newest data is from patch 7.41, updated 7 October 2026; the older patches go back to 6.83 in 2015.

  • Δ is the first patch minus the second: green means the hero wins more now.
  • Click a column header to sort, e.g. by the Average Δ to find the biggest winners and losers.
  • * fewer than 100 games: the value may not be reliable. – means the hero has no data in that patch.

How to read the comparison

For each skill bracket there are three columns: the win rate in the first patch, the win rate in the second, and the difference (Δ). A change of one or two points is already a lot in Dota 2, where almost every hero sits between 45% and 55%. Sort by the Average Δ to see which heroes a patch buffed or nerfed the most. Large changes in only one bracket usually mean that players at that level found (or lost) a way to play the hero.

The σ (standard deviation) columns show how far apart the skill brackets are. When σ drops between patches, a hero became easier to play well at every level; when it grows, the hero rewards skill more than before.

Game length and skill brackets

The game part buttons filter matches by how long they lasted: early game means matches that ended before 25 minutes, mid game between 25 and 50 minutes, and late game after 50 minutes. Comparing them shows whether a patch changed when a hero is strong, not only how strong it is.

  • Normal: matches whose players average Herald to Archon.
  • High: matches averaging Legend.
  • Very High: matches averaging Ancient, Divine or Immortal.

About the data

Every entry is built from public ranked All Pick matches: the match data comes from Valve's Steam Web API and, for the newest patches, the average rank of each match from OpenDota. Matches shorter than 5 minutes are left out. Some patches appear twice, as snapshots taken at different dates. There is no data between November 2022 and patch 7.41, when DotaPicker wasn't collecting matches.
