Lifestealer is picked in 16.1% of Very High matches, 15.9% of High and 13.6% of Normal, and wins 51.7% / 51.9% / 51.5%. Rage makes him debuff immune, Feast heals him for part of his target's max health on every hit, Open Wounds lets his whole team heal off one target, and Infest hides him inside another unit. He is a slow starter: his team gains more XP in only 45% of games before minute 15, and he wins only 40.7% of games under 25 minutes, against 52.2% at 25–50 and 50.9% past 50.
Countered by SlardarSlardar starts ahead: his team gains more XP in 53.5% of games before minute 15, at the stage where Lifestealer is weakest. Bash of the Deep bashes on every fourth attack, and Seaborn Sentinel makes him stronger in the river and in his own puddles.
Lifestealer heals only while he keeps hitting, and Slardar keeps stopping him. Slithereen Crush stuns and then slows, and Bash of the Deep adds a bash every few attacks. Rage lasts only a few seconds, and Guardian Sprint lets Slardar stay close until it ends. Corrosive Haze cuts Lifestealer's armor, so the whole team's physical damage outpaces what Feast heals.
Slardar's team keeps the XP lead: 53.7% of games at 15–35 minutes and 52.8% after. He wins 51.5% of 25–50 minute games (8,264 games) and 53.6% past 50 minutes (1,600 games); the 231 games under 25 minutes go the other way, 48.5%. The edge is largest in High (+11.96), with +9.98 in Very High and +6.56 in Normal. Slardar wins 51.3% / 52.7% / 51.5% (Very High / High / Normal) against Lifestealer, against his usual 48% / 48.7% / 49.7%.
Best teammate: Sand KingThis pair starts badly: their team gains more XP in only 37.3% of games before minute 15, and they win only 26% of the 77 games that end before 25 minutes. They need time.
Sand King holds enemies in place for Lifestealer. Burrowstrike stuns a line of enemies, Stinger slows everyone in an area, and Epicenter pulses damage and a slow over a widening area, so enemies can't walk away from Lifestealer's attacks. Sand Storm hides Sand King while he stays in the fight, and Open Wounds lets him heal from the damage he deals to Lifestealer's target. The XP-gain share climbs to 45.8% between minutes 15 and 35.
After minute 35 the pair's team gains more XP in 52.1% of games. They win 53.2% of 25–50 minute games (3,940 games) and 53.3% past 50 minutes (1,067 games), above Lifestealer's own 52.2% and 50.9%. The pairing works mainly in High (+10.66); in Very High (+0.41) and Normal (+1.66) it is barely better than expected. The pair wins 50.2% / 55.9% / 52.5% (Very High / High / Normal), with Sand King normally at 48.2% / 48.7% / 50.2%.
Based on 2,111,000 public ranked matches of patch 7.41, played 30 September – 14 October 2026. Advantage is the win-rate difference from what the two heroes' own win rates predict, times two (+6 is about 3 win-rate points), weighted over the skill brackets.
